We booked a Sundowner Mangrove tour with Dev's Adventure Tours, and were met by Harris, a lovely guide who was very engaging with the kids. They enjoyed his joyful demeanour and we learnt from his extensive knowledge of the environment. The tour meandered through the expansive mangrove forests, starting at crocodile cave which is home to hundreds, if not thousands of insect bats. After that we saw a Sandpiper catching fish at the cave entrance, and went on to be greeted by hoards of monkeys, both Dusky Leaf (black ones) and Macaques (brown owns) who are clearly the bosses of the forest. We also saw a juvenile mangrove Pit Viper, kingfisher (Brown-winged and Collette) and dozens of eagles, both the Brahminy Kite (after which Langkawi is apparently named) and the White-Bellied Sea Eagle, soaring over the water and collecting fish for their dinner. Truly a magical experience to see these animals in their natural habitat. We particularly appreciated that Dev's tours don't feed the eagles like some others do.
We were then taken to Tanjung Rhu beach for a chance to swim in a spectaular setting, the water was cool and the scenery amazing. Fresh and awake, we finished off with a cruise around the outskirts of the GeoForest Park, then dinner at the floating restaurant. Grilled fish, noodles, chicken satay, watermelon, even the kids were able to enjoy something.

Back in the car and off to the ferry back to Rebak Island. A long day, especially for the girls, but they have been amazing travellers, and it was easy to get them in to bed. Georgie's last words.... 'Can we have a ginormous sleep tonight... get up for breakfast and the go back to bed tomorrow?'.
