Our first day exploring off Rebak Island. Ian had organised a car with Rusli at the local Harbour Store, which he had waiting for us at the jetty straight off Rebak Island. With three kids in tow, hiring a car for the day was by far the best option for getting around (and for only 80MR it was economical too). The car itself felt more like an airplane, with air-conditioning as loud as a jet, but the girls seemed to enjoy playing crew in the back and before long it was like a distant hum. Getting our bearings, we went straight to the airport, only 5 minutes away, to get some maps, brochures and local sim cards.
We then decided to make our first stop at Oriental Village, the base of Langkawi's SkyCab cable car and other activities. The girls first experience of having to pay to use toilets sparked a lot of questions, but they were soon distracted with the thought of going up the world's steepest cable car. Georgie so much so, she said with a smile that would fill a room.... 'this is the most exciting thing i've done in my whole entire life!'
A fun experience all around. The ride was quick (15 minutes from bottom to top), and the view from the top was pretty special.
We didn't do the SkyWalk as it seemed a bit too much of an effort for the kids, though it did look fun, but we enjoyed the viewing decks, had some snacks in the shade and had a chuckle at one of Lila's epic meltdowns when her sisters finished all the crackers.... she really did pick a spectacular view for this one.
